The James Brand The Kent is TJB's first-ever bolt-action pen. Featuring a 303 stainless-steel barrel, a metal-injection-molded clip, and a Parker-style G2 cartridge, the Kent is ready to roll with you, day in and day out. The bolt action means no clicker sticking out of the top, so the Kent maintains a low profile and opens in one fluid motion. The bolt action prevents accidental opening in-pocket—nobody wants ink stains from blown-out pants. The bolt offers an ultra-satisfying, snappy action, combining one-handed operation with accidental-opening prevention. It’s the best of both worlds.

Extensive testing of existing bolt-action mechanisms helped identify what worked—and what didn’t. Finding the right balance between fidget factor and ease of use was key. The shape of the bolt slot plays a major role in how the action feels, from the force needed to engage it to how smoothly it locks and unlocks. After testing dozens of variations, the final design struck the ideal balance of function and feel. The Kent features a slimmer steel barrel and shorter length, making it perfect for daily carry.
