The Cote&Ciel Isar Rucksack, Form & Function Meet

The Cote & Ciel Isar Rucksack is an intriguing take on the high-end, function-forward backpack, coming in three different sizes – S, M and L – with a variety of different materials. 

We reviewed the EcoYarn in black, which comes in a durable polyester fabric that was carefully developed through sustainable processes and sports a water repellent finish. Large YKK zips add to the dramatic visuals, while lightweight aluminium hardware and a discrete grey polyester twill, used for the interior fabric, help soften and smooth the overall aesthetic. 

Look past its architectural form and you’ll see that the Isar is just as intriguing on the inside, aiming for exceptional ergonomics. Within the discrete grey interior are two main compartments for you to categorise your load, split between a padded laptop pocket towards the back, able to fit devices up to 15 inches, and a duffle-like area at the front.

The front, spacious and versatile, is accessible through the shark fin shape on the outside, easy to access when you simply loosen two compressions straps. This grants you access to two flaps concealing chunky YKK zippers, fully opening the front compartment and allowing you to easily grab anything stored inside. Importantly, the space isn’t too deep so you can avoid excess clutter.

Two straps have been included for securing special items inside, ensuring they stay firmly in place and don’t shake around too much whenever you’re on the move. Smaller items can be placed in one of two zippered pockets to help keep clutter to a minimum.

The use of compression straps allow you to transform the bag to suit your needs, keeping the front pocket tight and streamlined or opening it up to increase volume. Whether your packing light or heavy, the compression straps are there to adjust to your load the way that’s best for you.
