Aside from the difference in volume and some slightly different aesthetics, the Bellroy Weekender and Bellroy Weekender Plus are similarly built with 90% recycled nylon fabric and gorgeous leather detailing. The smaller Bellroy Weekender has a 30L capacity, while the Plus version bumps that up to 45L.
Around the sides of the bag are seamless straps that feature loops at various points to add a bit of versatility to the bag’s shell, perfect for attaching additional hooks for more gear or even a pair of shoes. Running around the shell, you’ll find that Bellroy has maintained their smart, stylish sense of premium aesthetics with a beautifully tactile feel. The haul handles, for example, are made with premium leather and have exposed hide on the underside for extra comfort when you carry the bag.
On the side of the bag likely to be facing away from you during carry, you’ll find a zippered compartment that’s best used for quick-access items like keys, pens, and a tablet. Bellroy has organised this beautifully, playing with colour contrast and including two generously sized mesh pockets with a pen slot in the middle. Bellroy’s signature quick-released key leash sits behind one of these pockets, as does another zippered pocket that’s deep and lined with fleece, perfect for a laptop up to 13-inches with perfect protection for any scratches or scuffs.
Flip the bag onto the other side and you’ll find another zippered compartment, best used for flat items like a folio or magazine, as this is the side that will slide up against your body during carry. You could also place the padded removable shoulder strap in here. It’s here you’ll also find a luggage passthrough.
The Weekender and Weekender Plus’ main compartment is given an additional layer of waterproofing by a weather flap that curls over the YKK zipline and can easily be folded back for a wide opening. Using the flap top, you can simply stretch the opening to provide better visibility to all the cargo inside, including the 2 pop-out mesh pockets on either side of the bag, and the 2 additional mesh pockets on the sides.
The space in this main compartment is deep and generous enough for multiple organisational pockets. Slightly obscured, towards the side, is another pocket that uses two-way zippers to reveal another fleece-lined pocket for any additional tech device. On the Plus, this pocket is even larger and can easily it a Macbook up to 13-inches.
